This hairstyle reflects women’s fashion of the Regency period, characterised by softly waved hair parted at the centre and arranged into a compact bun at the back of the head. Loose curls framing the face were a defining feature of early 19th-century hairstyling, contributing to the light, classical aesthetic that dominated the era.

Regency hairstyles were typically styled to imitate ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, favouring natural-looking curls and restrained volume rather than elaborate height. Hair was often dressed with curling papers or heated irons, with the front sections left loose while the remainder was drawn back smoothly.
